Have questions about the ATOPP Summit?
The Advanced Topics for Oncology Pharmacy Professionals (ATOPP) Summit is a unique stand-alone conference designed to address current educational and networking needs of seasoned pharmacy professionals and their associated colleagues, regardless of practice setting, who have been influencing cancer care for an extended time beyond graduation from their pharmacy training program. The ATOPP Summit applies novel instructional methods to go beyond the transfer of data by integrating other key elements that drive therapeutic decisions in health care, such as formulary management, reimbursement, and outcomes-based assessments. Thus, the ATOPP Summit convenes a diverse audience of experienced pharmacy professionals sharing one common goal — to provide cancer patients with today’s most innovative therapies while ensuring efficacy, safety, quality of care, and financial viability.
The primary target audience for the ATOPP Summit is seasoned oncology pharmacists who possess a well-developed understanding of the research milestones, clinical management, and business of cancer. Physicians and advanced practice providers, supportive care services specialists (eg, social workers, case managers), administrative representatives (eg, reimbursement specialists, financial counselors, practice managers), pharmaceutical and medical device industry professionals, and representatives from health care professional associations, patient advocacy groups, government agencies, and the healthcare insurance industry will also find value in the educational programming and networking opportunities.
“Who trains the trainer?” This question is being voiced louder than ever by established pharmacy professionals who pave the trail for the next generation of oncology providers. By offering an educational and networking forum that combines traditional and non-traditional approaches to problem-solving, seasoned practitioners will be more readily equipped to tackle the challenges encountered in modern cancer care. Furthermore, the field of oncology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, necessitating healthcare providers and their administrative colleagues remain current with the development, application, and fiscal management of these innovative therapies. As management becomes more complex, providers need a venue to harness their extensive experience throughout the cancer care continuum and share their insights and best practices.
ATOPP meets the needs of a growing number of established oncology professionals who are seeking advanced educational and networking opportunities by providing a forum to those focused on specialty care (ie, pediatrics, geriatrics, etc.) and who hold nontraditional, yet influential roles in oncology (eg, GPOs, payers, pharmaceutical and medical device industries, etc.) that cannot be found elsewhere. This is the meeting where seasoned and instrumental members of our diverse oncology pharmacy community can come together to collaborate with and educate one another to address today’s therapeutic challenges, ultimately impacting tomorrow’s healthcare delivery.
The ATOPP Summit is one of a kind. While oncology providers have their choice of several excellent conferences, an educational and networking forum that collectively targets experienced pharmacy professionals involved in the clinical and business aspects of cancer care does not currently exist. Furthermore, the Summit convenes pharmacy professionals practicing in traditional roles (eg, practice management, clinical, research), those working with special populations (eg, pediatrics, geriatrics), and those working in nontraditional roles (eg, industry, GPOs, payers) to ensure viewpoints are represented across the cancer care continuum.
The Summit fulfills unmet needs by recognizing the value of our pharmacy colleagues who practice in a variety of settings and giving them a voice as they blaze trails for younger generations. Traditional lecture style presentations are complemented by panel discussions, debates, workshops, and other non-traditional methods. To satisfy the advanced networking needs of this audience, the ATOPP Summit brings together nationally renowned, established pharmacists as well as business and industry thought-leaders to simultaneously provide all participants with intimate access to influencers and decision-makers within the clinical practice and business realms of cancer care. This forum is THE place for meaningful interactive exchange among various oncology provider thought-leaders, members of pharmacy C-suites, industry representatives, and stakeholder professional groups.
This event is being organized independently because the Summit objectives are to ensure the influence and value of oncology pharmacy continues to expand and becomes increasingly critical to cancer care. The goals/aims of other conferences are quite broad, whereas our goals/aims remain focused on offering advanced-level research, clinical, and administrative topics that impact oncology pharmacy professionals and their colleagues in diverse roles along with a commitment to an unsurpassed quality of execution. While several professional societies offer valuable programs on a variety of oncology pharmacy topics, there is no existing program that precisely combines the distinctive attributes of the ATOPP Summit in a single, multi-day event.
Planning for the ATOPP Summit is led by a group of diverse renowned oncology pharmacists experienced with facilitating collaborative initiatives and delivering timely, high-quality education. Please see our Summit Organizers to learn more about the members of our committees. Operational management for the ATOPP Summit is provided through CE Synergy, LLC of Atlanta, GA.
